MAL SWORD BIOGRAPHY
BASED BRISBANE
“The man with the experience is never at the mercy of the man with the theory”
In this high-tech age of connectivity, information on almost any topic- bounties of theories and ideas- are readily available at the touch of a button. Genuine, hard earned experience is so much harder to find.
The sidelines are always crowded, but few are the men and women who dare to play the game; and fewer still are those who play it well. So when you listen to a lifelong expert, every single word is laden with real life lessons and mistakes, losses and wins, glory and pain.
In the field of sales and marketing, few people can walk onto a stage with the experience of Malcolm Sword. For the past thirty five years, Malcolm has stood belly to belly with the public, breaking records in the field of sales and network marketing. He has built organisations that numbered thousands, lost it all and rebuilt it all again- even bigger.
In his personal life, Malcolm has faced highs and lows, surviving with grace through two divorces and fathering eight beautiful children who now range in age from 33 to 6. His adventures have taken him to the top of Killimanjaro, through India on a rick-shaw, across Thailand on a motorbike and into the icy waters of Antartica on a kayak.
Malcolm embraces life without apology. He is restless for adventure and pursues his dreams with passion. Mediocrity has never been an option. His entire life has been a search for purpose and a determination to make a difference.
Born in England in the mid fifties to a prominent Scottish family, Malcolm was shipped off to a military boarding school when he was only seven years old. A difficult and lonely childhood prepared him well for self reliance and he was still in his late teens when he decided to cross the world to attend university in Australia.
Malcolm completed a Bachelor of Business in Marketing and Finance in 1979 and jumped straight into a career in life insurance. An ambitious young man, Malcolm showed his tenacity in sales early and was selected ‘Recruit of the Year’.
From there, he was consistently breaking company records and claiming every award the company had to offer. Writing up to 100 Million in sums assured, by the late 80s, Malcolm’s yearly income was nearing $400,000- the equivalent in today’s money of earning around $1Million in commission.
Despite his impressive achievements, Malcolm wanted more. Not more money, but more time. His young family was growing up without him and Malcolm was acutely aware that he was keeping himself too busy ‘making a living’, and missing out on ‘having a life’. Looking to leverage his efforts, Malcolm turned to the world of network marketing.
A few years later, Malcolm had built one of the largest organisations in the country. He had not only replaced his substantial income, but now also had the time and freedom to enjoy it. His down to earth, practical and conversational style of teaching allowed him to connect with people all around the world, eager to learn from his years of wisdom gathered on the streets and living rooms of Australia.
Malcolm has been invited to share his principles and methods all around the world. He has spoken in many countries, including the USA, the UK, South Africa, NZ and of course, all around Australia. His captivated audiences have ranged from small rooms to huge arenas holding tens of thousands.
Yet despite having years of experience and expertise, Malcolm has not been immune to financial tragedy and about five years ago, decisions out of his control cost him the loss of his organisation. Undeterred and convinced that his destiny is always in his own hands, Malcolm did not sink into discouragement and instead, made a comeback by rebuilding a new organisation with a different company. This time, however, with years of experience behind him, Malcolm took only two years to build the largest in South East Asia, with an organisation numbering over 60,000.
Malcolm’s ability and skill is beyond question. In the field of sales and marketing, he has made his mark and continues to lead, teach and inspire many. His experience comes from over three decades of tough lessons on the field, and the fact that he continues to build his business today, makes him one of the most relevant and valuable speakers on the circuit.
